I first got in touch with music as a double bass player but I soon realized composition was going to be my path in music. Therefore, these two elements have been woven together ever since then and as a result in 2015 I was awarded a degree in double bass classical music performance followed by a masters in composition two years later.
Who are my mentors?
Maurizio Malagnini and Joseph Horovitz. I met them both in the Royal College of Music, London, while studying a Masters degree in Composition. I can only thank their invaluable help and advice that led me to where I am right now.
Projects that I have worked on?
My credits include projects of a diverse nature. I am currently writing the score for the PlayStationTalents-awarded videogame project UGLY (developed by TeamUgly; expected to be released in 2022) and the original music for the show ALMAVERA (created by the theater company Títeres Etcétera, premiering in July 2021). Previous credits include the original music for the critically-acclaimed theater play FEÍSIMA ENFERMEDAD Y MUY TRISTE MUERTE DE LA REINA ISABEL I (by the Barcelona-based theater company La Calòrica), the videogame soundtracks for cKolmos’ latest title ONIRIA CRIMES and Rogue Titan’s vr game ECHOES (currently in post-production; expected to be released in late 2021) as well as the original soundtracks for the multi-awarded short films THE DEATH OF DON QUIXOTE (by Miguel Faus) and PSICOLAPSE (by Arnau Gòdia).
What is my sound like?
Being a professional double bass player has allowed me to develop a deep and comprehensive understanding of the acoustical classical music tradition along my career. Parallel to that, the curiosity to explore with new sounds and with new ways to produce music has pushed me beyond the boundaries of classical music letting me discover and cohesively incorporate in my composition process an endless source of new sounds that goes from ethnic instruments to synthesis sound design with all the in-between existing experiments. I try to keep a fresh and hybrid sound in each new project that I am working on.
What is Rainfall?
RAINFALL is a music composition and production house co-founded and led by Christos Kiourtidis and myself. After graduating at the college and realizing we both shared a similar approach to music and life we decided to team up and start this artistic duo focusing on videogame music (a passion we both had in common).
